LSU gymnastics looks to regroup at NCAA regionals
BATON ROUGE - The LSU women's gymnastics team has had over a week to process the disappointment of not winning an SEC championship: now they're ready to reload for NCAA regionals this weekend in Baton Rouge.
Tigers head coach DD Breaux said the team didn't lose motivation, but they did lose focus as they finished 3rd in Birmingham after coming into the tournament as the #2 team in the country.
Breaux said that to help her team refocus, she showed her gymnasts clips from the movie "The Last Samurai," saying they-like samurai- needed to have no wasted motions in their performances.
"We showed it to them once before and they didn't get it," Breaux said. "Now they were like, 'oh! we get it!"
LSU will host 5 teams at the regional competition on Saturday, including Stanford, Auburn, Iowa State, Kent State and Arizona.
