LSU Gymnastics advances to Super Six

FORT WORTH - LSU Gymnastics advanced to the NCAA Super Six finals for the fifth time in school history after finishing second in Friday’s semifinal meet at Fort Worth Convention Center Arena.

LSU comes into the national championship meet on Saturday at 8 p.m. with a record of 27-5. The event will be broadcast on ESPNU.

No. 2 ranked Florida won the semifinal with a 197.4750, and No. 10 ranked Georgia finished in third place with a 196.7250.

Each team earns a spot in the Super Six, joining the top three finishers from Semifinal II that includes Oklahoma, Alabama, Utah, UCLA, California and Nebraska.

The Tigers start the Super Six on the bye before bars and rotating to bars, beam, bye, floor and vault.

“It’s been a great year for us, and the enthusiasm our team had today was incredible,” LSU head coach D-D Breaux said. “I am so proud of the effort they gave, and now we are looking forward to the Super Six where we can just relax and compete with reckless abandon.”

Coach Breaux passed the 700-win threshold with her record improving to 702-415-8 over her 39 seasons.

LSU performed solidly throughout the meet, posting a 49.3250 on bars, 49.3000 on beam, 49.3750 on floor and 49.3375 on vault.
