LSU gymnastics advances to Super 6
LOS ANGELES - The LSU gymnastics team finished second in the NCAA Gymnastics Semifinal on Friday afternoon and joined Southeastern Conference rivals Florida and Georgia advancing to Saturday's Super Six finals.
The Tigers earned the program's third Super Six berth (2008 and 2009) with a team score of 197.325.
Saturday's six-team national championship meet starts at 6 p.m. CT in Pauley Paviolion. Live video will be available on ESPN3.com, while live audio will be available at www.LSUsports.net/live.
Florida won the six-team semifinal with a 197.775, while Georgia was third at 197.150. Minnesota (196.375), Illinois (195.700) and Stanford (194.700) failed to advance.
The second semifinal is set for 8 p.m. CT, with the top three advancing to join the SEC powerhouses. UCLA, Alabama, Arkansas, Michigan, Oklahoma and Utah will compete in the semifinal.
Rheagan Courville led the Tigers with an all-around score of 39.575, good for second place in the semifinal meet. Courville's 9.95 on vault was good for the outright meet title, while her 9.90 on floor tied for first with five other gymnasts.
Sarie Morrison scored 9.95 on uneven bars to tie for the meet title, while Randii Wyrick was in a three-way tie for fourth at 9.925. Morrison and Maliah Mathis each scored 9.90 on vault and finished in a 10-way tie for fourth place.
The top four (plus ties) on each aparatus will advance to Sunday's 3p.m. CT NCAA Event Finals.
