BATON ROUGE - Students at LSU can expect some changes on campus when classes begin.

Crews are currently installing new crosswalks and landscaping on Dalrymple Drive that's expected to ease traffic and make it safer for pedestrians.

"We're taking the straightaways out, we're putting in angle parking and taking out parallel parking, and it will be a curving street which is designed to help slow down traffic," said Gary Graham, the director of parking at LSU.

Workers are also finishing up a roundabout near the entrance to campus that should help with traffic congestion.

"It's exciting, making it more student-friendly, it makes us feel safer," said Taylor Regira, an incoming freshman.

On top of road work, new signage is popping up around campus that uses LSU's branding to label iconic buildings.

"These provide that identity with LSU but also help people find their way around campus and provides for consistency," said Roger Husser, director of Planning, Design & Construction for LSU's Facility Services.

The projects on Dalrymple Drive are expected to be completed before classes begin.
