LSU fined for post-game celebration
BATON ROUGE - Southeastern Conference officials notified LSU Monday that the university would receive a $5,000 fine for the post-game celebration after the Tigers defeated Mississippi this weekend.
Tiger fans swarmed the field after LSU upset the previously-undefeated Rebels 10-7. LSU jumped eight spots to No. 16 in the AP Top 25 poll after the win, while Mississippi fell from No. 3 to No. 7.
SEC spokesperson Herb Vincent said the school has no deadline to pay the fine. "It's not like we don't know where the school is," said Vincent, who was spokesperson for LSU athletics before moving to the SEC.
The athletics department said they will pay the fine.
The turnout for Saturday's homecoming game was recorded at a record-tying 102,321.
