LSU falls to North Carolina 4-2, ends CWS run
OMAHA, Neb. - LSU ended their title run in Omaha, but not the way they wanted to. The Tigers fell to North Carolina 4-2 in today's elimination game.
The LSU Tiger baseball team just couldn't find enough offense to match their relatively solid pitching performances at the College World Series. LSU totaled three runs in two games at the CWS, and their season leading hitters struggled for the series. The Tigers three through six hitters finished the series 3 for 30 at the plate.
LSU finishes with two straight losses at the College World Series for the fourth time in team history. This Tiger baseball team finished the season with a 57-11 record, tying the school record for most wins and setting the record for the fewest losses.
The Tigers have a good shot at making it back to Omaha next season, as ace pitcher Aaron Nola and outstanding shortstop Alex Bregman will be back for their junior and sophomore season. The Tigers will need to replace some of their better hitters as Mason Katz and Raph Rhymes will have finished their senior seasons.
