BATON ROUGE - For all the hope and enthusiasm Johnny Jones has brought to LSU, he's trying to keep expectations realistic for his first season as head coach of his alma mater.
The Southeastern Conference's preseason poll places LSU 11th out of 14 teams, and Jones is quick to concede he has not yet been able to fill his roster with the size or experience that he would prefer to have.
LSU has three returning starters: point guard Anthony Hickey, shooting guard Andre Stringer and power forward Johnny O'Bryant. The 6-foot-9 O'Bryant is the only post player on the roster who has played a significant role for LSU.
Jones also hopes for contributions from Memphis transfer Charles Carmouche and freshman Malik Morgan on the wing.
LSU opens Nov. 9 against UC Santa Barbara.
