LSU defense confident it can contain Manziel
BATON ROUGE - Kevin Minter doesn't envision LSU's defense fretting over any quarterback, not even explosive Texas A&M dual-threat freshman Johnny Manziel.
Minter, a senior linebacker, has been part of a unit that held Oregon in check last season, and which last week racked up four sacks against South Carolina's Connor Shaw - a good scrambler in his own right.
Minter says No. 6 LSU has plenty of speed and ability on defense to handle any threat Manziel poses, so long as the Tigers don't make the mistake of taking the Aggies' rising star lightly when they line up at No. 20 Texas A&M on Saturday.
The Tigers ranked second in the Southeastern Conference in total defense, allowing 219.6 yards per game.
In six games, Manziel has nearly 2,400 yards of total offense.
