Louisiana State University's cancer center gets a $50,000 grant to provide information about breast cancer screening and breast health to women in rural parishes between Baton Rouge and New Orleans.

This is the third grant from the Avon Foundation Breast Cancer Fund to the LSU Health Sciences Center New Orleans for its cancer screening and early detection center in Sorrento.

The clinic offers free cancer screening, including mammograms, clinical breast exams, and personalized instruction on self breast exams to minority women and those at least 40 years old in the river parishes.
