BATON ROUGE - As is the case almost every Friday night, it was the Aaron Nola show at Alex Box Stadium.
The junior right hander struck out 10 Bulldog batters and only allowed two total hits en route to eight scoreless innings.
Joe Broussard closed out the ninth inning for the Tigers after LSU batters strung together three runs on seven hits to close out Mississippi State.
The Box came alive in the third inning with back-to-back triples from Mark Laird and Sean McMullen.
However, all the talk after the game was about Nola's performance against LSU's rival.
"There are situations in the game that [Nola] has to raise his game to another level, and that's what the great ones do," said head coach Paul Mainieri. "That's why this kid is going to pitch at the next level for a long long time."
