LSU beats University of Houston 5-1
BATON ROUGE - SEC Pitcher of the Year Aaron Nola retired 18 of the final 19 batters he faced, only allowing one earned run on four hits in the Tigers' 5-1 win Saturday night over the Houston Cougars.
Sean McMullen started off the top of the second innig with a base hit to center field and was eventually driven in on Conner Hale's RBI single in the next at bat.
Michael Pyeatt drove in a run for the Coogs in the bottom of the second with a two-out RBI, evening the score; Sean McMullen answered in the next half-inning with an RBI single to take the lead, and Conner Hale drove in McMullen with a knock up the middle to make the score 3-1.
The Tigers started to break the game open in the seventh inning with a Mark Laird RBI single to left field that scored Christian Ibarra.
Alex Bregman then collected his first RBI to stretch the Tiger lead to 5-1.
