LSU basketball continues postseason at NIT
The LSU men's basketball team gets to continue their post-season play in March after receiving an invitation to the National Invitation Tournament.
Coach Johnny Jones Tigers are slated to play the University of San Francisco on 9:00p.m. Wednesday night in San Francisco after learning of their NIT invite on Sunday night.
It's a quick turnaround for the Tigers as they just finished play at the SEC Tournament in Atlanta on Friday evening.
The team will practice in Baton Rouge on Monday and fly out early Tuesday morning to the West Coast.
LSU finished thes eason 19-13 and 9-9 in the SEC, while San Francisco enters the NIT 21-11 and 13-5 in the West Coast Conference.
The San Francisco Dons are the fourth seed, while the Tigers are the fifth seed. The winner of this game will meet the winner of the SMU-UC Irvine game.
This will be LSU's seventh trip to the NIT and the 27th post-season appearance since 1953 for the Tigers. LSU last went to the NIT in 2012, losing in the first round to Oregon in Eugene.
