BATON ROUGE - With six runs in the eighth inning, No. 6 LSU defeated Alabama to win the final game of a series to open Southeastern Conference play Sunday.

Brody Wofford hit a single up the middle with bases loaded to score two runs and cut the game to 4-3. Left fielder Beau Jordan would later hit a single of his own to push through two more runs to give the Tigers the lead 7-4.

The Tigers rose to 14-5 and 1-2 in SEC play. The Crimson Tide will leave Baton Rouge as 13-6 with 2-1 in the SEC play.

LSU baseball takes on UL-Lafayette next in New Orleans on Tuesday for the Wally Pontiff Jr. Classic. That game will be televised on Cox Sports Television and fans can listen to the game on LSU Sports Radio Network, including 98.1 in Baton Rouge.
