LSU baseball off to best start since 1986
BATON ROUGE - The Tigers' sweep of SEC opponent Missouri this weekend puts them at one of their best starts to the season in decades.
No. 2 LSU improved to 26-2 overall and 8-1 in the SEC after the three-game series this weekend. It's the best start for the Tigers since 1986.
"It's so difficult to sweep an SEC series, especially on the road, so we're very proud of the way our players competed this weekend," said LSU coach Paul Mainieri.
LSU's eighth consecutive win also ties them with Vanderbilt at 8-1 for the overall SEC lead. It's the first time the Tigers have gone 8-1 in SEC play since 1997.
LSU returns home to play five games in six days, starting Tuesday against Alcorn State at Alex Box Stadium.
