LSU baseball earns No. 8 national seed
BATON ROUGE - LSU will host Southeastern Louisiana University at 2 p.m. this Friday after the Tigers received the No. 8 seed in the NCAA Baseball Tournament.
Alex Box will also host Bryant and Houston, who play at 7 p.m. Friday as part of the double-elimination regional tournament.
The winner of the Baton Rouge regional will face the winner of the Houston regional, hosted by Rice. That regional consists of Rice, George Mason, Texas and Texas A&M.
LSU (44-14-1) earned its 11th SEC Tournament crown this past weekend. Their performance helped the Tigers dramatically improve their NCAA standings before the national tournament.
The University of Louisiana at Lafayette received a No. 6 national seed and will host their own regional, taking on Jackson State Friday while also hosting Mississippi State versus San Diego State.
The NCAA Baseball Tournament consists of 16 four-team, double-elimination Regionals to be played at campus sites from May 30 through June 2. The 16 winners advance to best-of-three Super Regional series from June 6-9, typically played at the home of the higher-seeded team. The eight winners advance to the double-elimination College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska, starting June 14.
