NEW ORLEANS - Rammer jammer. Tiger bait. Roll Tide. Geaux Tigers.

The sounds of a healthy college football rivalry are all over New Orleans tonight, after thousands of fans descended on the Big Easy ahead of Monday's BCS National Championship between No. 1 LSU and No. 2 Alabama.

While at times there appeared to be more crimson and white than purple and gold on the streets of the French Quarter, fans from Baton Rouge said that's because the rest of the Tiger faithful are an hour down the road.

"It's about the same right now," said LSU fan Tim Whittington, but come game time: "There's going to be more LSU fans."

The strong showing both teams put forward in the regular season when the Tigers beat Alabama. Neither team scored a touchdown during the low-scoring game, and fans on both sides of the field know that one different call, one different play could have changed everything.

"There's not going to be any love lost until after the game," said Crimson Tide fan John Kyle. "Then theyr'e going to really want us to be going."

Until then, there's plenty to keep fans busy around New Orleans.

"I think we're just a little bit more classy than them," said LSU student Kyle Roques. "Thats all it comes down to."
