LSP: Wreck victim had helmet, wasn't impaired
FRENCH SETTLEMENT - State Police said in an update today that a man who died in a Livingston Parish motorcycle crash was not impaired, and was wearing his helmet at the time of the wreck.
Investigators said toxicology results from the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab showed Michael Skinner, 29, of St. Amant wasn't impaired when the wreck happened around 10 a.m. Aug. 2.
State Police said Skinner collided with another vehicle while trying to pass it on LA Highway 22 just south of LA Highway 16, and died at the scene.
After the wreck investigators said they suspected impairment and that Skinner wasn't wearing a helmet. On Monday they said video surveillance and evidence gathered at the scene showed Skinner did have a helmet on.
