LSP: Woman killed by St. John deputy
LAPLACE- State police are investigating a fatal shooting involving St. John the Baptist Parish deputies.
Trooper Nick Manale says a deputy stopped the woman for a traffic violation around 3:30 a.m. Thursday. Manale says as the deputy approached the car, the woman flashed a gun and fled the scene.
A short time later the woman pulled up to a house near LaPlace.
As deputies arrived at the scene, Manale says the woman fired a shot in the direction of officers.
He says deputies returned fire, fatally injuring the woman.
The woman's name has not been released.
