LSP searching for car after gun battle with trooper
ALEXANDRIA - Louisiana State Police said a trooper is recovering after he was shot at during a traffic stop in Alexandria Tuesday, and asked people to be on the lookout for those responsible.
LSP said the trooper made a traffic stop on Old River Road at LA Hwy 1 in Rapides Parish. The trooper said the driver started a fight with him, during which the trooper was hit in the head with an unknown object.
As the driver got back in his car and tried to flee LSP said a passenger in the car shot at the trooper, and the trooper returned fire. The car fled the scene, and the trooper was not hit in the shooting.
LSP said law enforcement agencies are looking for an older model 90s model Chevrolet Caprice with a gray paint job or primer color. The car had a temporary tag and dark tint on its windows. The trooper said there were several people in the car when the shooting happened.
Anyone with information about the shooting or people involved should call (318) 487-5911.
