LSP says unrestrained driver killed in Watson wreck

WATSON - State Police said the driver killed in an afternoon wreck in Livingston Parish wasn't wearing their seat belt.
Troopers said Walter C. Phillips Jr., 60, of Greenwell Springs died in the wreck on La. 1019 in Watson.
Investigators said Phillips went off the road while going around a curve, then crossed into oncoming traffic when he came back onto the road and hit an 18-wheeler head-on.
Phillips died from injuries from the wreck, while the 18-wheeler driver wasn't hurt.
Troopers sent a sample of Phillips blood to the State Police Crime Lab to test for impairment.
