HOLDEN - A road rage incident put one man in jail in Livingston Parish over the weekend after he attacked a driver with a gun, according to Louisiana State Police.
Trooper Russell Graham said Ralph Brown, 68, of Hammond was arrested after the incident on I-12 near Holden Saturday afternoon.
Graham said two other drivers, 18-year-old Sean Cassidy and 26-year-old Ryan Fitzpatrick, were being reckless on the interstate and throwing items out of their vehicles at each other. A third vehicle was hit by a water bottle, and all three drivers pulled onto the shoulder and exchanged words.
Graham said Brown, who is Cassidy's father, drove onto the interstate the wrong way up the shoulder from the Albany exit ramp. He said when Brown got to the scene he got out of the vehicle with a gun and attacked the third vehicle's driver, hitting them at least once. During the fight Brown's wife took the gun away and put it back in the vehicle.
Troopers arrested Brown and booked him into the Livingston Parish jail on criminal charges of reckless operation of a vehicle and simple battery. Graham said the investigation is continuing, and additional charges could be possible.
Troopers also issued misdemeanor summonses to Cassidy and Fitzpatrick for reckless operation and littering.
