LSP: Prank scared man into jumping off I-10
BATON ROUGE - Louisiana State Police said a prank gone wrong caused a man to jump off an I-10 overpass in Baton Rouge early Friday morning, seriously injuring himself.
It happened around 3 a.m. on the I-10 East overpass over Siegen Lane.
Troopers said the man who jumped had been asleep in the car while he and two others had been driving back from New Orleans. When the car broke down, investigators said the two others started screaming the car was on fire as a joke.
Troopers said the man who'd been asleep woke up, jumped out the car and ran away, toppling accidentally over the overpass railing and onto Siegen Lane.
Paramedics took him to the hospital. State Police said his injuries are not life-threatening.
