NAPOLEONVILLE - State Police said tests are pending to see if a man was impaired when he walked in front of a vehicle in Assumption Parish last night and was killed.

Troopers said James Miller, 59, of Napoleonville died after he was hit by an oncoming car on LA 1 just after 10 p.m. Monday.

Investigators said Miller walked into the car's path, and there wasn't enough time for the driver to avoid him.

The driver was wearing a seat belt, and wasn't injured or cited. Toxicology tests are pending for Miller, according to LSP.
