BATON ROUGE - Both lanes of I-12 eastbound are back open after traffic officials put recovery operations on hold for a crashed 18-wheeler.
The truck, which was hauling potatoes, rolled onto its side in the construction zone near the Amite River Bridge this morning. There were no injuries, and the driver was cited for careless operation of a vehicle.
The eastbound lanes had been closed while the truck was righted, but are back open now. State Police said they could close the lanes again around 10:00 p.m. to continue removing the truck.
This is the third accident involving a large truck at that location in the past 30 days. News 2's Michael Shingleton will have more from State Police and truckers about the conditions drivers face there tonight on News 2 at 6.
