LSP: Driver intoxicated, going the wrong way
RUDDOCK - A 32-year-old man died early Tuesday morning when he drove the wrong way down the interstate and crashed head-on into another vehicle.
According to State Police, Brandon Craig was driving north of I-55 South between Ruddock and Manchac when he hit 31-year-old Conrad Hebert just after 4:30 am. Another driver attempted to avoid the accident and slammed into the guardrail. That stretch of interstate was shutdown as a result.
Craig was pronounced dead at the scene. Hebert later died at the hospital from the injuries he sustained. Two passengers in Craig's car, 22-year-old Kori Goldsby and 29-year-old Jason Trahan, were transported to area hospitals.
State Police believe Craig was driving under the influence. The crash is still under investigation.
