LSP: Driver died behind the wheel, then crashed
GEISMAR - Authorities closed an Ascension Parish highway after a one-vehicle wreck in which State Police said the driver died while behind the wheel.
The wreck happened on LA 621 near Highway 73 in Geismar, shutting down the road while State Police worked the wreck.
Troopers said the vehicle's driver died due to a medical condition, and ran off the road.
State Police reopened the highway about a half-hour after the wreck. The driver's identity hasn't been released at this time.
