LSP: Amite man died in two-vehicle wreck
AMITE - State Police said an Amite man died after making a U-turn in front of another vehicle Wednesday in Tangipahoa Parish.
Troopers said Kyle Rigdon, 20, of Amite City died in the wreck shortly after 8 a.m. on US Highway 51.
Investigators said Rigdon made a U-turn on US 51 and was hit on the passenger's side of his car by another vehicle. The impact knocked Rigdon's car from the highway.
Troopers said Rigdon was wearing his seat belt, but died as a result of the crash. The driver of the other vehicle had moderate injuries, and an unrestrained one-year-old in that vehicle had minor injuries.
State Police said they don't suspect either driver was impaired, but took blood samples for testing. The crash is still under investigation.
