LPSO to host concealed carry class
LIVINGSTON - The Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office plans to host a concealed carry class later this month.
The sheriff's office said skilled instructors would teach students how to safely and confidently handle a weapon in situations where public safety is at stake.
The course features both classroom and weapons firing instruction and is designed to provide students with the necessary experience and knowledge needed to apply for and obtain a concealed carry permit in the state of Louisiana. In order to participate, students must be 21 years of age and meet Louisiana State Police requirements. More information about the permit requirements and the application process can be found on the Louisiana State Police website.
Instructors for the class are all full-time law enforcement professionals who have met the proficiency criteria set and have successfully completed the F.B.I. Instructor Development course. The certified firearms instructors assembled for the LPSO class have over 20 years of combined experience and are equipped to teach various firearm and tactical skills.
The class will be held at the state-of-the-art LPSO Training Center and Firing Range located at 28225 Woodside Drive in Walker on Sept. 20. It begins at 8:30 a.m. and ends at 5:30 p.m. with breakfast and lunch provided by the Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office. The cost of the class is $125.
Students are required to provide their own firearm for the class and detailed information about this is available online. To register, visit the LPSO website.
