WALKER - Livingston Parish deputies are looking for a suspected armed robber suspected of participating in the robbery of Babe's Corner Grocery and Deli Tuesday.

Detectives are searching for J. W. "Wayne" Riggins, a 32-year-old white male weighing approximately 150 pounds and standing 5'9" tall with brown hair and brown eyes.

His last known address is North Morgan Road, Walker, La.

A 22-year-old man John W. Shelton of Walker, La. has already been arrested and is charged with 1 Count Principal to Armed Robbery

Detectives were told by a store employee that around 10:18 a.m. a white male wearing a mask entered the store, jumped the counter, forced his way into the cash register, took an undetermined amount of cash and fled out the front door.

A witness outside the store saw the man jump into the back of a light blue Ford pick up and go north on La 449.

That truck was occupied by two people, with at least one of them being a white male.

Another witness also saw the masked man jump into the back of the truck.

From a safe distance, the second witness followed the truck as he relayed information, such as a license plate number and direction of travel to authorities.

That witness eventually lost sight of the truck.

However, by that time, enough information had been gathered for detectives to locate the truck and eventually arrest John W. Shelton.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Riggins or the other occupant of the get-away vehicle is urged to contact LPSO Detectives at 1-800-443-7681.
