LPSO: Officer, family member attack rape suspect
WALKER - Sheriff's deputies arrested a Walker Police officer after they said he beat a suspect accused of raping a juvenile, then let the juvenile's family members hit the suspect as well.
Investigators said on July 24 Officer James Dipuma, 32, arrested Raymond Robison, 19, on suspicion of having sex with a juvenile.
Deputies said Dipuma also hit Robison several times while he was in custody, and did not stop one of the juvenile's family members, 45-year-old Charles Madgett, from hitting him Robison as well.
Deputies arrested Dipuma this past Tuesday, June 30, on suspicion of malfeasance in office and second-degree battery. Robison was charged with molesting a juvenile, aggravated rape and resisting an officer. Madgett was charged with simple battery.
Dipuma and Madgett bonded out of the Livingston Parish jail. Robison is still in jail on a $150,500 bond.
Walker Police Chief Marliam Lee said he reassigned Dipuma to desk duty until they could complete an internal investigation into the incident.
