LPSO: Husband shot wife in murder-suicide
DENHAM SPRINGS - Sheriff's deputies said a man shot his estranged wife and then turned the gun on himself Wednesday night in Livingston Parish.
Sheriff Jason Ard said deputies found Marlon Reed Sr., 38, and Aleria Cyrus Reed, 35, shot to death on Grand Turk Drive in the Denham Springs around 7 p.m.
Ard said the two were separated and the shooting happened while Aleria Reed was visiting their two small children, who were living with Marlon Reed at the home on Grand Turk.
"My deputies have been called to the residence for alarm activation-type calls, but our records do not reflect we've been called for any type of domestic-related issues or for incidents of violence," Ard said.
Investigators said they found documents at the home showing Aleria Reed filed for a protective order alleging her husband abused her, and that it was still active at the time of the shooting.
Ard said detectives are still actively working this case.
