LPSO cracks down on drugs during roundup
LIVINGSTON - More than a dozen accused drug dealers were busted in Livingston Parish Friday during a narcotics roundup.
The suspected dealers got a rude awakening as deputies worked parish-wide to crack down on drugs.
"The mission here is to make sure we get any and every drug dealer we can off the streets," said Sheriff Jason Ard. "We don't want them here, and the citizens don't want them here. This is to make our streets safe and that's what we're going to do."
Deputies went after people who are accused of selling drugs like meth, heroin, prescription pills and marijuana to undercover deputies. Ard says it's an ongoing fight against drug dealers in the parish.
"If it's illegal narcotics and you're selling it we look at it as though you're a drug dealer. You're dealing drugs. It's illegal. You don't need to be doing that, and if you are and you're not picked up today, you're probably going to be picked up tomorrow," said Ard.
The sheriff's office is planning more undercover operations like this one to tackle drug dealers.
