LIVINGSTON - A father is under arrest Thursday afternoon after his son was found by authorities with a shotgun wound in his back in their shared trailer home in Hammond.
George W. Hardy Jr., 54, is charged with attempted second degree murder, child desertion and illegal use of a weapon.
Approximately 1:15 p.m. Thursday afternoon LPSO Deputies were notified of a possible domestic shooting in the Hammond area at 30544 Strawberry Lane, Lot #12.
Deputies say upon arrival they found Hardy's son 36-year-old Scott J. Hardy suffering from life threatening injuries from a gunshot. He was transferred to a New Orleans area hospital.
Authorities charged George W. Hardy Jr. with child desertion because a two-year-old was inside the home at the time of the shooting.
Detectives say they recovered the weapon they believe was used and believe the incident stemmed from an argument.
George W. Hardy, Jr. is being held in the Livingston Parish Detention Center in lieu of an $85,500 bond.
