DENHAM SPRINGS - Several shelters in Livingston Parish are joining forces this weekend for Pet Fest. We were joined by author Michelle Hirstius this morning on 2une In with all the details.

The Pet Fest is Saturday from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the Livingston Parish Animal Shelter (13525 Florida). The Denham Springs and Walker shelters will also be bringing rescues to the event. The Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office K-9 Unit will be on hand to do demonstrations for the kids, while actor john Schneider of 'Dukes of Hazzard' fame will also be in attendance. Local vets offices will provide information about caring for your pet and they'll be doing micro-chipping for just $20.00

Hirstius is the author and illustrator of the book "JuJu the Good Voodoo". She's written 5 books in all, but the latest features JuJu saving a rescue dog. She'll be selling the books at Pet Fest, and a portion of the proceeds will go towards local animal shelters.
