Louisiana unemployment rate drops
NEW ORLEANS - Louisiana's unemployment rate dropped to 6.5 percent in October.
Figures from the federal Bureau of Labor Statistics show improvement from August when it was 7 percent and September at 6.8 percent.
8,600 more people had jobs in October than September. The state also showed a 30,800 gain over October 2012.
Louisiana had 136,000 unemployed people in October, down from 142,000 in September but more than the 123,000 in October 2012.
The national unemployment rate was little changed from September at 7.3 percent.
