Louisiana Tech adds Petersen to staff
RUSTON - Louisiana Tech has named Tony Petersen as the football team's new offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.
Coach Skip Holtz said Wednesday that Petersen brings 20 years of experience at the NCAA Division I level and a background of wide open offenses to Tech's program.
Petersen was the co-offensive coordinator at Marshall for three seasons in the second of two stints at his alma mater, where he was a record-setting quarterback. As co-coordinator, Petersen's offense led the Big Ten in scoring offense, passing offense, total offense, pass efficiency, third-down conversions and first-downs.
Petersen also served as the assistant head coach and wide receivers coach at the University of South Dakota.
His hiring is subject to approval of the University of Louisiana System Board of Supervisors.
