BATON ROUGE - Taxpayers in Louisiana who need more time to submit their individual income or Corporation Income and Franchise Tax returns can no longer file an extension the traditional paper way, according to the state Department of Revenue.

A spokesperson said extensions must be filed online before the normal tax filing deadline, April 15 for Corporation Income and Franchise returns and May 15 for individual income returns.

According to the Department of Revenue, some tax preparation software my incorrectly offer printable Louisiana extension request forms. They said those forms were not valid, and won't be processed.

Click here to file an extension on the Department of Revenue's website. You can also reach them by telephone at 1-888-829-3071.
