Louisiana-Lafayette drops Oral Roberts 76-52
LAS VEGAS - Kasey Shepherd, who missed just one shot all night, scored 22 points to lead Louisiana-Lafayette to a 76-52 victory over Oral Roberts in the MGM Grand Main Event on Tuesday night.
Shepherd, who made 4 of 5 from beyond the arc, was almost perfect as he made 7 of 8 field goal attempts and hit all four free throw attempts. He also pulled down six rebounds and had five assists and three steals.
Devonta Walker had 13 points and Brian Williams chipped in 11 for the Ragin' Cajuns (2-3).
Louisiana-Lafayette had a 36-25 lead at the half. Oral Roberts closed to 37-29, but Kasey Shepherd nailed a 3-point jumper that started a 13-3 run for a 21-point lead with 9:36 left. The Ragin' Cajuns had an 11-2 run later that sealed the victory.
Denell Henderson had 15 points and Korey Billbury added 13 for Oral Roberts (1-3).
