MANCHESTER, N.H. - Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal has joined Republican gubernatorial candidate Walt Havenstein on two education-related campaign stops, and both were quizzed by youngsters.

Jindal, who's likely considering a run for president in 2016, and Havenstein visited a charter school in Manchester on Friday before touring US FIRST, a student robotics program.

At the charter school, when asked why he wants to be governor, Havenstein said he wants to make sure young people and their parents have good jobs. Havenstein faces Democratic Gov. Maggie Hassan in the Nov. 4 election.

Jindal has focused on education policy during his two terms in office. He recently sued the federal government over the Common Core education standards.

Havenstein favors school choice. He's promoted science, technology, engineering and math education as a FIRST board member.
