Louisiana fugitive caught in Los Angeles
BATON ROUGE - State corrections officials said a fugitive from a Louisiana women's prison was caught this week in Los Angeles.
Authorities arrested Keana Barnes, 33, after LAPD gave her a ticket for loitering Monday and she gave them a fake name. They said she told them her real name on the way to the police station, and that she was an escapee from Louisiana.
Keana Barnes escaped from the Louisiana Correctional Institute for Women on Jan. 1, where she was serving a 25-year sentence for two manslaughter convictions. Authorities offered a reward for information leading to her arrest, and listed Barnes among the U. S. Marshals most wanted fugitives.
Corrections officials said Barnes is expected to be in federal court Wednesday, and that the state is ready to start extradition measures if necessary.
