Louisiana Democratic Party endorses Derek Edwards in Treasurer race
BATON ROUGE - The Democratic State Central Committee voted to endorse Derrick Edwards in the state's Treasurer race on Saturday.
According to the press release, the scheduled vote followed a strong recommendation from the Executive Committee.
"Derrick Edwards is the best candidate in this race. He has a master's degree in accounting from Tulane University and a law degree. Judging by his opponent's misleading ads, I'm not even sure that he knows the job he's running for," Louisiana Democratic Party Chair Senator Karen Carter Peterson said in the press release.
Edwards addressed the group at the meeting prior to the vote and said "I am proud to be a Democrat and to have the support of the party," according to the press release.
