BATON ROUGE - It was a successful day for college football in the state of Louisiana.

Starting with LSU, who defeated New Mexico State 63-7 behind 363 rushing yards from the Tigers. True freshman running back Leonard Fournette led the way with 122 yards on the ground and two touchdowns.

Southern, not as pleasant of a Saturday, falling 56-16 to Alcorn State on the road. The Jags falling to 1-1 in the SWAC.

 Southeastern starting out Southland play 1-0, with a 63-7 victory over Incarnate Word

Nicholls not as fortunate in their Southland debut, falling to Central Arkansas 52-18.

In other scores, Louisiana Tech falling to Auburn on the road 45-17.

UL-Monroe squeaked past Troy 22-20.

Grambling defeated Prairie View 26-20 to move to 2-0 in the SWAC.

McNeese State taking it to Arkansas Tech, 61-7.
