Louisiana College is planning to open a School of Law in Shreveport.
Louisiana College President, Joe Aguillard, says the Shreveport Bar Association has long believed that a law school in the area is necessary to fully serve north Louisiana's citizens.
Shreveport attorney J. Michael Johnson was named as founding dean of the school.
The school will be named after Judge Paul Pressler III, a retired justice of the Texas Court
of Appeals and key leader of the Southern Baptist Convention.
Johnson most recently served as senior legal counsel for the Alliance Defense Fund.
Aguillard says further details will be announced on Sept. 1.
