DENHAM SPRINGS - Animal shelter workers pulled a lost dog from an open grave in Denham Springs today, and News 2 was there to see the rescue.
Workers were called to a local graveyard after a dog had been found in the bottom of a grave shortly before a funeral service was scheduled to begin. A rescuer was able to get the dog out in time for the service to go ahead as scheduled.
"I do get emergency calls like this sometimes," said shelter worker Angela Menier. "I've had to tromp through the rain, even go through the broken floors of abandoned houses."
But it's the rest of the rescue that's making this story so memorable for animal shelter workers. Rachel Frost will have those details tonight on News 2 at 5.
