Loreauville mayor killed in head-on collision
LOREAUVILLE, La. - Louisiana State Police say a head-on crash killed Loreauville's mayor and injured four other people after a juvenile jerked the steering wheel of a truck.
Master Trooper Brooks David says 65-year-old Albert Broussard was a passenger in a car driven by 62-year-old Phyllis Savoy of Loreauville. She's hospitalized with critical injuries.
David says the juvenile and 26-year-old Catherine Derouen of New Iberia were passengers Friday evening in a truck driven by 34-year-old Forrest Simon of New Iberia.
He says all three were injured in the wreck on Louisiana Highway 86 in Loreauville. He says Simon's injuries were moderate and his passengers' injuries were minor.
David says the juvenile was cited with obstructing the driving mechanism and the adults with failure to wear seat belts.
