Longwood Plantation proposed as a local landmark
BATON ROUGE - The East Baton Rouge Parish Historic Preservation Commission wants Longwood Plantation designated as a local historic landmark.
The Advocate reports that the Metro Council is expected to vote on the commission's proposal at its April 17 meeting.
The two-story home, built around 1845, had been listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983 and is one of a handful of Greek Revival homes in East Baton Rouge Parish, the commission says.
Longwood is owned by Pinnacle Entertainment. The property is near the company's L'Auberge Casino on River Road.
