BATON ROUGE - Police arrested a man after he was accused of breaking into a N. Ardenwood Drive apartment unit after a long night of drinking.

30-year-old Joseph Carroll was booked on charges of unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling and criminal damage to property following the incident in the 1100 block of N. Ardenwood.

Police said Carroll arrived at the apartment complex early in the morning and began banging on the door and window of an apartment unit to be let inside. When the man was told that he wasn’t allowed inside the residence, he reportedly broke a window with his fist and forced his way inside without permission. Carroll arrived at the apartment after a long night of drinking, according to the arrest report.

Carroll cut his hand in the process of shattering the window and spilled blood throughout the apartment. After a brief argument with the victim’s sister, police said Carroll left of his own accord, but not before breaking another window with his closed fist.

In the process of breaking the windows, Carroll damaged the window frames. The arrest report estimates the total damage caused by the man to cost around $1,200 to repair.
