LSU System President John Lombardi says the TOPS award needs a change. He believes the amount students receive for their academic performance in high school should be static.
The amount currently changes from year to year, based on tuition. Lombardi says standardizing the award amount will allow for higher quality education.
TOPS is an award that goes to students who excel in high school and meet certain requirements. Income does not factor in to who can receive it.
