Locals stock up for St. Patrick's Day parade
BATON ROUGE - Bars and businesses are stocking up on beer and beads for the parade on Saturday.
Bars like Ivar's along the route say they've been making additional changes for the parade since Halloween to make more room for customers during the annual St. Patrick's Day parade.
Other businesses were crowded with parade riders trying to purchase last minute throws for the parade on Monday. Many say some spend up to $1,000 on throws just for this parade.
"I'm fired up," said Dustin Loveless, parade rider in the St. Patrick's Day parade. "I usually ride with them, but I'm looking forward to it hopefully all the rain is out of here.. it's going to be a good time though rain or shine."
Most bead shops say they'll keep their doors open till 9 p.m.
The parade will start at Hundred Oaks and South Acadian Thruway then roll down Hundred Oaks before it turns right on Eugene then onto Terrace ending at the intersection of Stanford and Perkins Rd.
