Locals ready to assist with Colorado flood disaster
BATON ROUGE- Red Cross volunteers from Louisiana are on standby to assist with flood relief efforts in Colorado.
Days of widespread flooding have left 8 people dead, destroyed some 1,500 homes and damaged about 17,500 others media in Colorado reported Monday night.
"We are eager to support our friends in Colorado and get them the help they need," said Kay W. Wilkins, CEO of the South Louisiana Region.
A volunteer from the Louisiana Capital Area Chapter will leave Tuesday morning for the region the Red Cross said. Others are awaiting a call to mobilize and head northwest.
